NYC Eats

I feel so lucky to live in this amazing city with tons of great restaurants. I’ve been here for over 12 years, and while I love checking out new spots, I always end up going back to my favorites. So, I thought I’d share some of my go-to spots Part One.

The Odeon

A stylish, iconic Tribeca bistro that’s been a staple since the '80s—any restaurant that can thrive in NYC for over 40 years is clearly doing something right. Before kids, it was my husband’s and my go-to brunch spot, where we loved sitting at the bar. Now, it’s become our favorite place for Sunday family dinners with the kids. The food is consistently delicious, and the vibe is always spot on. Their french fries are a crowd favorite, and on Sundays, the chicken pot pie is something I can’t stop thinking about. It’s the perfect spot for brunch, dinner with the fam, or even a date night at the bar.

Le Bilboquet

A chic, upscale French bistro on the Upper East Side, known for its lively scene, elegant ambiance, and signature Cajun chicken dish. As a downtown girl, I find the UES feels different, and Le Bilboquet puts that vibe on full display. It’s an elevated experience that makes you want to dress up a little more. The ambiance and people-watching are a solid 10/10, and the food is always fantastic. My favorite time to visit is Saturday after 2 PM when it transforms into a lively day party with blasting music, low lights, and everyone dancing. I try to go at least once a year to fulfill my inner party girl needs in the daytime. While it’s great for dinner and non-party brunch, experiencing the Saturday vibe is definitely worth it!

One White Street

A true gem tucked inside a charming Tribeca townhouse, One White Street has a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. The seasonal menu is crafted with fresh ingredients sourced from the restaurant’s own upstate farm, bringing creativity and freshness to every dish. Chef Austin is incredibly talented and has worked at some fancy restaurants, but he keeps the dishes simple, unique, and delicious, making every meal feel special. Whether you're looking to impress a foodie or just enjoy an exceptional dining experience, this spot won’t disappoint!

Spring Cafe Aspen

A casual café specializing in fresh, healthy fare with a menu focused on seasonal ingredients, smoothies, and acai bowls, all in a bright and inviting space. It’s my go-to spot for a casual lunch and favorite for dinner delivery. You can eat with confidence, knowing the owner, Sabrina, is an incredible resource, full of expertise about health and ingredients.

Sushi of Gari

A laid-back spot in Tribeca, Sushi of Gari is known for its unique sushi with a twist. It’s not your typical sushi joint—here, they top their sushi with unexpected flavors like garlic chips, sauces, and seared fish, making each bite feel different and exciting. The omakase (chef’s choice) upstairs is a must-try and one of my favorite spots for a celebration dinner. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious, giving it a cozy neighborhood feel, but the sushi quality is still top-notch, making it worth the splurge. If you’re looking for something more casual, the downstairs is perfect for an easy, laid-back dinner.

Milos

Milo’s Uptown is a stylish Greek restaurant with a laid-back yet upscale vibe. They serve classic Greek dishes like mezze, zucchini chips, and an amazing Greek salad. The atmosphere feels perfect for a fun night out, and their impressive seafood display adds a cool touch. It’s got great food, great energy, and feels like a spot straight out of Sex and the City.

Polo Bar

A tough reservation to snag, but always worth it. The Polo Bar embodies classic NYC charm, with some of the best people-watching (and Hermès bag spotting) in the city. The menu is full of American favorites—think juicy burgers (including a great veggie option), shrimp cocktail, and fresh, flavorful salads. It’s a timeless spot, perfect for a special dinner or cocktails with a touch of luxury.

Via Carota

Via Carota is a true West Village staple, exuding rustic Italian charm that feels like stepping into a cozy trattoria in Italy. While reservations can be hard to come by, they accept walk-ins, which is super convenient. A must-try is their Insalata Verde—easily one of the best salads in the city. Simple yet exceptional, it perfectly complements the restaurant’s warm ambiance, making Via Carota a great choice for lunch or dinner. Whether you’re there for a casual meal or a special occasion, Via Carota never disappoints, and the food is amazing!

Casa Carmen

A stylish mexican restaurant in Tribeca known for its take on traditional mexican. It feels like a cool NYC restaurant with an equal amount of neighborhood vibes.  It’s my go-to when I want something delicious but that wont make me feel like crap the next day.  Their pescado verdalgos is my favotire fish dish! I crave it from time to time.  Pro tip- order corn tortillas on the side and make your own little fish tacos.  If you get there early enough, having dinner at the bar for date night is mine and my husbands move.

Hillstone

Hillstone is the kind of place where you know you’ll get great food every time. It’s a laid-back yet elevated spot with a menu full of favorites like burgers, sushi, steaks, and an incredible dirty martini—they’ll even pour it into a new cold glass before you’ve finished the first one. The vibe is relaxed but stylish, with comfy booths and warm lighting that makes it feel cozy. It’s a popular spot, so reservations can be tough to get, but it’s worth the effort. I love the kale chicken salad (sans chicken), the veggie burger, and all the sushi

Cipriani Downtown

Cipriani on West Broadway is a classic yet sceney Italian restaurant in SoHo. I love going for daytime celebrations, sitting outside, and people-watching. The food is simple but always consistent, making it the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. I’m a big fan of the cucumber salad and spaghetti pomodoro!

Sadelles

Sadelle’s is one of my favorite spots for breakfast or brunch. It’s truly bagel heaven, offering a variety of fresh bagels and some of the best salads in the city. Their famous bagel towers are a must-try—perfect for sharing and always a showstopper. Just a heads-up: it gets busy, so be sure to book in advance! Whether you’re in the mood for a classic schmear or something more creative, Sadelle’s never disappoints.

Tamarind

Tamarind is an incredible and elevated Indian spot in Tribeca—right in my neighborhood, so I can’t help but love it! Honestly, I’ve only dined in the restaurant once, but I’ve ordered delivery from them tons of times. It’s one of my favorite meals on a cold winter night. Their dishes are packed with flavor, making it the perfect comfort food to cozy up with. My go-to veggie order includes spinach and garlic rice, Lasuni Gobi (insane cauliflower), Lachedar Bhindi (okra), vegetable samosas, and Pudina Paratha. Each dish is a standout and keeps me coming back for more!
